Tyler's Playhouse

Call me crazy with deer season right around the corner but my son Tyler really wanted a playhouse so I guess you can tell what my new project is. I very much enjoy working with wood, I suppose I got that from my dad. So, I drew up some plans and made a materials list and headed for my favorite lumber yard.

The playhouse is only going to be 4' x 4' x 6' plus a roof but that sure looks like a lot of wood to me. I am really looking forward to doing this partly because since I've been sick the doctors tell me to try and stay active to keep the old joints lubed and for another reason I like to stay active anyway. I plan to take pictures periodically because I want to use them as a way to promote my handy man side job thing I have going on.

But, the most important reason why I am looking forward to building this is because of the smile I see on Tyler's face. That alone makes it all worth it.

Fortunately I don't bow hunt anymore so Sept. and Oct. I am free to finish up some outdoor work before the gun season starts in November.

Oh ya, I forgot to mention that there is one more reason to do this and that is when Tyler has outgrown the playhouse I'm sure with a few modifications that I could turn it into a shed. I won't mention that to Tyler though.

I think building a playhouse is a great idea. Every kid should have one. And it's smart to consider a further purpose after Tyler outgrows the playhouse.

A skill with the hands is hard to find now days - I commend you for it. I come from a family of skilled laborers that take a lot of pride in their craftsmanship. Tyler will love it, I'm sure - and, hey, when he's older, he'll love it being a shed where he can tinker with you, too!

Sounds like a great idea. I'm sure it will look very nice. After all, we saw the house you built for the neighbor and that was awesome.
