It has given me an avenue to express my passion/obsession for whitetail deer hunting as well as turkey hunting and trout fishing (basically the outdoors) to all my friends. It has enabled me to share family experiences and indoor/outdoor projects which I enjoy doing. There is still a lot I would like to accomplish with "Whitetail Woods" in the coming years and with all the support I have been getting I don't see any reason why it can't happen.
That is why I am going to have another Giveaway to show my appreciation. Starting today August 1st. anyone interested in putting their name in will be able to leave a comment on this post. You must answer a very simple question,
What is the activity you enjoy doing the most with family or friends in the Outdoors?
The only requirement is that you be a registered user on this blog which is as easy and free as signing up. The giveaway will end on August 17th. at 12:01 AM and the winner will be notified via email as well as a post of who the lucky winner is.
This is what you will get if your name is the one chosen and let me just say these I think are some real nice gifts that I am happy to say were all donated.
Paul Chapdelaine who is the VP/Banquet Chairman for the "Northeast Big Buck Club" and Jeff Brown who is the President and co-founder have gracously on behalf of the NBBC donated two one year memberships to the NBBC and also a limited edition book of "The Northeast Trophy Whitetails 5".This is the fifth edition of the Northeast Big Buck Club Record Book. It includes all trophies recorded by the NBBC through July 2006. This is a limited edition with only 1,200 copies printed.
This beautiful limited edition, hard cover, record book is 336 pages. It contains:
Forward written by Duncan Dobie, Editor of North American Whitetail
- Deer ranked by state, by harvest category (gun, bow, muzzleloader). Also ranked in the entire Northeast.
Next I want to mention Paul Biggs who is from "After Shock Archery". I spoke with Paul over the phone and told him my plans for my 1 year anniversary, I am happy to say he donated some awesome stuff.Paul was nice enough to donate a After shock "maniac's in the Field' dvd as well as Own the Zone TV DVD season 1. Paul just happens to be on the Own the Zone team.

Also before I forget Paul has added a package of Maniac EX broadheads which look like they will do the job they were intended to do. Last but not least and added a very nice ball cap which is embroidered with My Outdoor Zone.com.
Also I am happy to say that Deborah Brosen from "Feather Art Studio" who just happens to be a very talented (in my opinion) artist that uses turkey feathers as her canvas has donated a very beautiful framed Print of one of her piece's of art. Deborah is a artist that I am very willing to endorse also, proud to say that I soon too will have a painting to show off in my den. When she has time of course.
This beautiful print that Debbie is donating happens to be signed by her and is numbered 20 of 250.
What you see right now will also include a handmade frame suitable for hanging.
I personally want to thank again those who donated towards this giveaway which is a special day for me. Whitetail Woods has become a very important part of what I do and who I am and I'm blessed to have the readers/followers that I do.
Thanks to in no particular order,
- Paul Chapdelaine - Northeast Big Buck Club
- Jeff Brown - Northeast Big Buck Club
- Paul Biggs - AfterShock Archery & Own the Zone TV
- Deborah Brosen - Feather Art Studio

Congrats Rick!
Don't seem like a year has come and gone since I first started reading your blog but when you are having a good time, that time most certainly fly's doesn't it!
Charlie Daniels, good choice of songs/songwriter for the celebration!!
P.S.
Then Toby Keith came on and I just had to enter my thoughts on my favorite outdoor activity with my family.
Just simply being out with my children is sheer enjoyment in itself.
Was just out at the ranches with my two year old son and three year old daughter.
They look down at the ground and both at nearly the same time pointed and exclaimed excitedly: Look Baba, deer poop.
I look down at where they are pointing and sure enough, there it is, fresh dark droppings from a really large and mature buck!
Proud, does not even begin to explain the emotions which I felt at that very moment, it just scratches at the surface of a very wide array of feelings.
I am still beaming!!
Congrats Rick I am proud to say you are a friend! As for activities That I like to do with my fam. outdoors, I would say it has to be shootin compounds with my wife. She is just getting into it and it is awsome watching her learn and get better. My son is almost 2, I can not wait untill he is 12!! if he decides to be a hunter like dad, I am sure that will trump anything in the great outdoors.
Rick congratulations on a year of wonderful blogging! Whitetail Woods is top notch and I look forward to your second year.
My favorite activities with family/friends is just being out in the field during whichever hunting season it happens to be. Sharing the comraderie and being a witness to the changing seasons is an incredible experience I never tire of.
Congratulationa on being one year old Rick. I have enjoyed following Whitetail Woods for the past year and even before that on your old blog.
My wife not being an outdoors person I have to enjoy the outdoors with my sons. The only thing I seem to be able to get together with both at the same time is saltwater fishing so that is what I enjoy most with my family. In fact we just got back about a half hour ago.
Well done Rick!
Congratulations one your first blogoversary! I count you as one of my close friends, and always look forward to each of your posts.
It is great work that you're doing, and I'm looking forward to the next year of The Whitetail Woods!

Congratulations Rick! I enjoy reading your blog as well as the comments you leave on mine.
There are a lot of outdoor activities I enjoy with my family. I guess my favorite would be bowhunting whitetails with my dad. When it comes to my wife and little girls we enjoy going to baseball games, specifically the Texas Rangers.
Hope your second year is as good as your first!
hey rick, congrads on the one year, doing a great job.
there isnt one thing doings with the family, its just being outdoors together with my wife, stepsons and grandkids, enjoying life the simple way
Congrats on the one year anniversary, Rick - that is an awesome feat to accomplish.
My favorite outdoor activity to do with my family is all of them, but mainly hunting. I've been doing it for years, and absolutely love sharing that time with them.
congrats Rick. I would say at this present time it is fishing down on the red river for bass. The whole family goes, We put the 15month baby in a play pen and she watches everyone fish. We have a BBQ going with Hotdogs and burgers. My step children come and my oldest step daughter has started bringing her boyfriend and he keeps asking when we are going next. So all in all its becoming a real family affair
I love taking my wife and kid hiking and camping.
Congrats, Rick, on your 1 year Blog Anniversary!!
Hands down, my favorite outdoor activity is hunting elk in the rocky mountains. Although, I haven't tried bowfishing yet. So, that may be a close second. Oh, and I would love to shoot a caribou with my bow. I could go on and on. ;)
Wow some awesome gifts!! My favorite outdoor activity to do with my family:
While we're at Deer Camp in the fall-I love the middle part of the day when we all sit out in the sunshine relaxing. Kids playing-men talking deer-eating a sandwich-just such a relaxing time when all the problems of life seem far far away.
Just being in the woods with my family is good. Even if it is nothing more than a stroll down an old logging road.

Sorry for the multiple posts, I'm not very good at this computer stuff.

I would have to say that anything outdoors with my family is my favorite. Just as long as I am outside is all that matters.
Congrads Rick on the Milestone. Although we've never actually met I consider you a friend and glad to read your blog and the one before this one. I guess for me and my family doing about anything outdoors is great. Not having any children my wife and I are a bit more free then most and it's not unusual for us to hit a national park on short notice. I love to photograph nature and my wife likes to tag along to keep me out of trouble.
No matter what it is you love to do in the outdoors it's better when you share it with others.

Congratulations on your one year anniversary! My son loves to hunt in the woods of WV. I love hiking in the outdoors with my family.
I love taking the grandkids outback where we have huge bolders overlooking a lake and the Osage River. Fall is the best time to play there.

Hi Rick and congratulations on your blog anniversary. My sister sent me over to check it out, and I must say you have a very nice blog. My husband loves to hunt deer here in WV. He's getting ready for muzzeloading in Septmeber. I don't hunt, but the both of us love to trout fish. We take a vacation in the WV mountains every fall in October. That is something we enjoy very much. I love the mountains. My husband is not into computers but I know he would love it if I were to be the winner of your giveaway. Anyway, I'll be visiting you every now and then.
God bless.
