I do not like to be Pressured

I was going through a few of my things as I so often do and one of them was my gun cabinet (exact location unknown) and realized when I built it I hadn't planned on expanding the amount of guns I have. But the more I think about it the more I keep thinking of a special part of the Bill of Rights called the 2nd. ammendment. The Right to Keep and Bear Arms"

I have to say that there is some organizations that are out there that's main purpose is to protect and preserve these ammendments for us and our future children to enjoy. I would be the first if need be to say I agree but I would be the first to say I should not be expected to constantly contribute to the cause. I think we all know the group I am talking about I have to say I am tired of the phone calls asking me to join and I'm tired of retrieving this stuff from my mailbox asking me to join.

I once joined and before my first year membership was up I had been asked in one form or another 4 times and it was a huge turn off.

If and when it comes down to the american people having to vote for something so important than as an american I will gladly vote, until that time all I can say is backoff and leave me alone. I use every single piece in my cabinet and already have plans to expand so I can add more

You certainly do have a legitimate concern about being contacted repeatedly to contribute by that entity.

I liked the way it used to be...when you felt like giving to a cause you did it, not because they were always at you to fill the coffers. There seems to be a lot those organizations today.

I have taken an uncivilized standpoint in reaction to calls that I feel intrusive. The call is simply concluded prematurely - hanging up is beginning to work for me. ;)

Multiple mailings and calls to the same person is ridiculous. I understand your frustration. I wish they would work harder at getting "responsible" gun owners and not so much, just ANYONE, to buy a gun. They are sooooo afraid of losing their gun rights, that they add to the problem of irresponsible ownership. I am not for gun control, but, there ARE people who should not have a gun. Rights or not.

I know the organization of which you speak. I am a life member. I get at least three requests for monet every two weeks. If I gave them the minimum they want every time they ask they would have more of my money than I do. I just toss them now. I don't mind giving if I have the money to spare but not having an income for the last nine months makes it kind of tight.

If we're talking about organization I think we're talking about, I completely agree with joining; however, I do not agree with them constantly bugging you to join, especially if you are already a member.

Hello there Rick!
Well because no one has had the sack to say it, I will assume that you all are referring to the National Rifle Association. I happen to be an Endowment menber, and did that on credit cards and swaet. It is true that they often send out appeals for mony, but it is also true, that if they were not there, that gun cabinet you built for yourself would have long ago been empty. I personally have not been inundated with pleas for money, but I know what you are speaking of. Bur also, all of you that wrote to Rick, remember that the NRA is made up of a family of corporations. You may get a plea from NRa, then one from NRA-ILA, then one from NRLE or PVF. If you canoot give, that's fine. But stop complaining about them trying to raise resources to protect YOUR rights. That is just plain foolishness. Jack

Arthur, thanks for your input.

Jack, YES it is the NRA and no I am not a member specifically for that reason.

Karen, 4 out of 5 is good odds to me.
